Rezok-DSR: Contraindications

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Rabeprazole is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rabeprazole, substituted benzimidazoles or to any component of the formulation. Clarithromycin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any macrolide antibiotic.

Concomitant administration of clarithromycin with pimozide and cisapride is contraindicated. There have been post-marketing reports of drug interactions when clarithromycin and/ or erythromycin are co-administered with pimozide resulting in cardiac arrhythmias (QT prolongation, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, and torsade de pointes) most likely due to inhibition of hepatic metabolism of pimozide by erythromycin and clarithromycin. Amoxicillin is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any penicillin.

Rezok-DSR: Undesirable Effects

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS: Most Common Effect: Headache was the only side effect that occurred in more than 2 percent of people in clinical trials with rabeprazole. Gastrointestinal Side Effects: Several gastrointestinal side effects are rarely associated with rabeprazole. These include constipation or diarrhea, increased or decreased appetite, stomach pain, upset stomach, nausea and vomiting. Other Side Effects: Other unlikely rabeprazole side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, insomnia , nervousness, water retention, and muscle or bone pain. Long-Term Use: A rare side effect with long-term use of over three years is vitamin B-12 deficiency, with symptoms of weakness, sore tongue, and numbness or tingling in the hands or feet.
