UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS:

Most Common Effect: Headache was the only side effect that occurred in more than 2 percent of people in clinical trials with rabeprazole.

Gastrointestinal Side Effects: Several gastrointestinal side effects are rarely associated with rabeprazole. These include constipation or diarrhea, increased or decreased appetite, stomach pain, upset stomach, nausea and vomiting.
Other Side Effects: Other unlikely rabeprazole side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, insomnia, nervousness, water retention, and muscle or bone pain.

Long-Term Use: A rare side effect with long-term use of over three years is vitamin B-12 deficiency, with symptoms of weakness, sore tongue, and numbness or tingling in the hands or feet.
